Grand Lodge practice was to number the Districts from the North to the South. Thus the 1st Masonic The
10th District was reformulated by MW John S. Ryan when he became Grand Master in May of 2007. The
idea was to take the 4 lodges of the 13th District and combine them with 2 lodges of the old 27th District.
In addition, it was pointed out that 1 lodge of the 12th District met in Plainfield and thus should be
incorporated into the new realignment. Rather than have 4 lodges in the 13th and 5 lodges in the 27th, it
made much more sense to balance the Districts.
The first District Deputy Grand Master of the 10th District is RW Charles H. Hoens, III and the first District
Ritual Instructor is RW Raymond H. Carroll.
