Grand Lodge practice was to number the Districts from the North to the South. Thus the 1st Masonic
District is up in Sussex County. It was not meant to connote the history of which lodges were established
first or last.
Here then is a short history of the 13th District!

1911 - RW William M. Thompson is appointed the new DDGM. He is from Mystic Brotherhood Lodge #21.
